Matthew Sephton is based in Manchester and is a campaigner on many issues. He stood as the Conservatives’ candidate at the 2010 General Election, challenging Hazel Blears in the Salford and Eccles Parliamentary seat. As a result of his campaign, he managed, in just 5 months following selection, to increase the Conservative vote by 54% and gain the 4th biggest swing to the Conservatives in the North West.
Matthew is an experienced community campaigner who lives in the City Centre, having spent all of his life in the North West. He works in education.
Matthew is also Chairman of LGBTory, the Conservative Party’s LGBT group.
I’m pleased to hear that Matthew will stand against Hazel Blears. Salford needs a candidate that is pro-individual and kicks back against how things have been done here. Salford is so full of potential. Instead of the High St opening more betting shops and off licences, the community is crying out for someone who will lead the way to change. “We” know what we want for our community and we want high quality services. Efficiency is important but not at the cost of cutting services. I hope you are going to be visible in the next few weeks and let your prospective voters know how you will serve us. I want someone who is not a professional politician with life experience too, not jaded by years at Westminster.
Salford is ready to be shaken up, but in a progressive way. Blue rinse conservatism has no place here, we don’t believe in viewing the world suspiciously. We want to be heard, we want to help and we want people to take responsibility for themselves.
I wish you luck in a successful campaign, Matthew.
Many thanks for your post. I am indeed enjoying the challenge so far and look forward to hopefully meeting you at some point soon. Matthew
Hello Mathew
Welcome to Salford
Salford has a reputation going back to the days of Hanky park and Love on the dole cloth caps and car’nt see any futher infortunatly there is still a hard core who whatever happened will still follow labour but in recient years with new boundries have been created people with other views now live in Salford
Salford has a lot to offer if you can convience people to change there views just because your grandparents and parents have always voted Labour I think The westminster expenses uproar may have helped to break the mold and the indictrinated people in Salford may decided to go for a change.
Al good wishes on May 6th
It would be intrested to know more about you and where we could go to hear you speak.
